I also read in your textbook efficiently and, consequently, get better grades
Below are eight tips to help you read and understand your textbook so you can ensure that better qualified.
1. Skim through all the titles and captions before reading
first paragraph. This will give you an idea about
the material covered in the chapter or section
and helps you create a mental picture of the material as you read.
2. Skim through the material in the first section when selecting
basics.
not try to remember or write down the specifics yet. Just get an idea of \u200b\u200bwhat is discussed
reading.
3. Reread the section carefully and take notes as you read.
Read a paragraph or even a few sentences if
paragraphs are complicated, stop, and think about what you read
. This is the RST method. Read, stop and take a
few minutes to digest the material and think about what
read. Paraphrase the material. Put it on your own
tongue what does it mean to you?
You may even want to recite what you read out loud. A lot of students are thought
party easier when you actually get your thoughts down on paper
. Do not try to write everything, just a little
phrases to remember what you thought about just
.
4. Be sure to look at figures, diagrams, and fillers.
one picture or graphic can contain the same amount of
the information found in a paragraph long and is much easier to decipher
. Be sure to read any subtitles.
5. Record all the words marked in bold and your meaning in your own words in your notes
. Must be important if
authors and textbook publishers out of their way to
bold them!
6. Once you're finished reading, summarize what you just read it out loud
. Your ability to discuss this will serve as a true
testing to determine whether or not you understood what you just read
.
7. Skim through the text a few more times, especially before and after
conferences that compliment the material in the text.
8. Try to organize all your notes to create the big picture. Add
information from your class notes to your notes
text and / or add information of your text notes to your class notes
. This combination is easily achieved if you type
on your notes, leaving a neat, organized
and carefully copy everything you need to know to
this chapter / unit.
